The Mitre Box was established in 1955 as the Hollywood Frame Shop by Wilbur J.D. Ingham Jr. and his father Wilbur J.D. Ingham Sr.
1955
After his father’s death in 1969, Bill moved the business into his home and called it The Mitre Box.
1969
Ingham joined with other picture framers to help form the Professional Picture Framers Association. The goal of the PPFA was to improve the industry through education and increased awareness of the skills required for custom picture framers. Bill Ingham (2nd Generation) became a certified picture framer as did his daughter Beverly Kicinski, and her husband Joseph Kicinski.
The Mitre Box has had several other locations over the years. Downtown Lansdale, a barn in Worcestor, back to downtown Lansdale, and then to the storefront on Main Street in Lansdale.fdsfds
1969 to 1991
Joseph and Beverly Kicinski bought The Mitre Box from Bill and have carried on the museum quality and craftsmanship that The Mitre Box has been known for.
1992
In July of 2002, The Mitre Box moved to it’s current location at 25 Susquehanna Ave. Lansdale. Located between Mike’s Shoe Repair and the Lansdale Library. One of Joe and Bev’s daughter’s, Joslyn (4th Generation), is also currently designing framing choices as well.
The Mitre Box has always thrived on framing the difficult and unusual, while being creative and using museum quality standards. We can put together a tasteful design for pretty much anything! This includes needlework, shadow boxes, flag and medal cases, mirrors, canvas transfers, prints, posters, and more! We also do some restorations.
